Who are we?

Tamara Alferoff

Image of Tamara AlferoffI'm enthusiastic about the unique potential and effectiveness of online counselling and its accessibility to those who, for whatever reason, may not be able or wish to visit a counsellor personally. I warmly invite you to contact me whenever it feels right for you.

As your counsellor, I will always be guided by what you, the client, choose to look at, and I might offer some useful suggestions! My philosophy is that deep within each person, young or old, lies a unique wisdom together with the answers they seek: my task is to assist you in your search for that inner knowledge. I also offer facilitation in the Work of Byron Katie (www.thework.com). See my personal page for upcoming workshops.

The Work of Byron KatieTo find out more about my background and my approach, please visit my personal page. If you think you might like to work with me, send me an outline of your present concerns; my reply will help you decide whether you wish to continue. This initial exchange will be free of charge.

As an individual Member of UKCP I am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure therein.

Mim Kay

Image of Mim KayHello, my given name is Hermione, which is a bit old-fashioned and formal, so I prefer to be called Mim: it's more relaxed and friendly - like me! I know that counselling is a serious business, dealing with some traumatic life events, but I also think a sense of humour can sometimes help to alleviate stress - especially if you feel that I am tuned into your wavelength, and am there to help you look at your life with a new perspective.

I see online counselling as an invaluable new therapy for many who prefer to take their time thinking about the issues that are troubling them, and who can express their emotions on screen, perhaps more easily than in a face-to-face session.

Suzanne Shailer

Image of Suzanne ShailerGreetings and welcome to Cocoon Counselling! I am a Person Centred counsellor and, as such, I believe in the human potential for self-actualisation. In this hectic, busy life that we lead it is very unusual for someone to take the time to listen, with heart and mind, to what we are saying. I believe that when an individual experiences a sense of being heard and understood they grow in self-esteem. As self-esteem increases, so does the trust in one's ability to make informed choices, and to cope constructively with life and all its challenges.

As I have been a counsellor for many years I was, at first, sceptical that online counselling could offer the same quality of therapy as face to face counselling. I have been amazed at how effective it is, and feel very enthusiastic about the possibilities that online counselling offers. Many people have a desire to seek counselling but are unsure of what to expect. Online counselling can be a gentle first step into discovering how counselling works. It is also a medium which is helpful for those who live in isolated communities, are hearing impaired, housebound, or those who find it difficult to take time out of a busy working day.
