Image of Suzanne ShailerHello again! As we don't have the opportunity, at this stage, to meet face to face, you might like to know a few more details about me, my qualifications and experience.

First of all, I am lucky enough to live in the beautiful West Country and share a small house with my partner, young son and two dogs. We have three older children who live and work away from home, but who return frequently for social occasions. In 1990 I was awarded my Certificate in Person Centred counselling and my Diploma in Professional counselling in 1992. To gain experience after obtaining my Diploma I was a volunteer counsellor for Plymouth Women's Centre and also for a local youth advice service. I then studied for my Certificate in Supervision which I achieved in 1995.

The following year I was offered the opportunity to work as a trainee trainer in counselling at the International Institute for Counselling and Personal Development (IICPD) in Plymouth. I studied for my Diploma in Training and Supervision in 1997, and worked as a trainer and supervisor for the IICPD until it closed in October 2000.

My experience in counselling has covered many areas of difficulty including relationship problems, terminal illness, rape, eating disorders, self-harm, bereavement, substance abuse and depression. No matter how complicated the challenge that a client is facing, I believe that each and every person has the capacity to alter the circumstances of their life in whatever way is best for them.

I am now working for The Eddystone Trust, a charitable organisation which offers support, advice and counselling for people who are concerned with HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C. I also have a small, private counselling and supervision practice. My clients are of all ages and come from all walks of life.

If you would like to contact me with a view to counselling, please send me an email saying briefly what is concerning you at present. My initial reply is free, and I will send you my agreement regarding details of frequency of contact, confidentiality and methods of payment as an attachment. If, after reading my reply and agreement, you decide you would like to continue we will need to organise payment. Once this is received we can make an immediate start. Where appropriate, I can also offer face to face counselling by arrangement

My fees are:

  • Initial consultation free
  • Each two-way email exchange = £25
  • One hour 'real time' session on MSN Messenger or AOL Instant Messenger = £35
  • Package 1: 5 two-way email exchanges + 1 hr. 'real time' = £150
  • Package 2: 10 two-way email exchanges + 2 hrs. 'real time' = £300

I look forward to meeting and working with you online. Suzanne
